Stanley Cup Playoffs: Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Golden Knights and Oilers all win

The Carolina Hurricanes won Game 2 in the first-round playoffs against the New York Islanders with a score of 5-3 on Monday night in Raleigh, N.C. at the PNC Arena, giving them a 2-0 series lead. The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 in Game 2 on Monday night at TD Garden, tying their first-round playoff series at one game each. Auston Matthews scored on a breakaway to snap a third-period tie with eight minutes left, while Ilya Samsonov stopped 27 shots for Toronto. Max Domi and John Tavares also scored for the Maple Leafs.

Game 3 will take place on Wednesday night in Toronto at 7 p.m. ET.

The Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series with a score of 7-4 on Monday night in

Zach Hyman had three goals and an assist in his first postseason hat trick, while Connor McDavid had five assists. Adam Henrique, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Leon Draisaitl and Warren Foegele also scored, with Stuart Skinner finishing with 33 saves.

Game 2 of the series will take place back at Rogers Place on Wednesday night.

The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Dallas Stars 4-3 in Game 1 of the Western Conference First Round at American Airlines Center on Monday. After missing two months, Vegas captain Mark Stone scored, while Tomas Hertl added a goal in his playoff debut for the Golden Knights. Stone and Hertl scored on the only power plays as the reigning Stanley Cup champions beat the top-seeded Stars.

Game 2 of the series will take place in Dallas on Wednesday.
